Welcome to HL7 Sweden
“We work for a health and care system where the right information can be accessed and used securely, clearly and in the right context, when it is needed the most. HL7 Sweden brings together Swedish stakeholders who want to make standardisation practical, valuable and usable in real digital health workflows.”
Mattias Colliander
Chair, HL7 Sweden
We are developing and supporting standards in Sweden since 2005.
HL7 Sweden is the Swedish national affiliate of HL7 International, the global standards development organisation for the exchange and use of electronic health information.
The organisation was established in 2005 and brings together members from regions, government agencies, academia, industry and other organisations with an interest in standardisation and interoperability in Swedish digital health.
HL7 Sweden is one of 22 national HL7 affiliates in Europe. We contribute Swedish experience and requirements to international and European HL7 work, and promote the clear, consistent and practical use of HL7 standards in Swedish health and social care.
We also track the European working groups on FHIR profiling for the European Health Data Space, enabling Swedish stakeholders to follow, understand and contribute to the standardisation work shaping the future of European health data exchange.
Our projects
Swedish FHIR Base Profiles
HL7 Sweden leads the work on Swedish FHIR base profiles. The purpose is to establish a common foundation for the use of FHIR in Swedish health and care, with profiles, guidance and examples that make it easier for different actors to develop solutions that work together.
